Well this has certainly made my Monday. A feature on the @cityofsydney Instagram.

On the weekend I visited the Sydney Customs House down near Circular Quay. If you haven’t been in there yet, its definitely worth a quick pop in. Its an impressive building and I love showing my friends or family its awesome see through walk over model of the City of Sydney. A certain satisfaction spreads over me every time as I stand over and peer down at the miniature landscape.

As I walked in I was struck by this wonderful video of a satellite hovering over Earth. To add to my amusement, there was a small boy just casually lying on the floor looking up at it. They say the best camera is the one you have with you and in a rare occurrence, I only had my iPhone. Good enough!

Here is the photo, slightly edited using Snapseed to bring out the saturation.

What I later learnt about the display from the re-gram (is that such a thing on Instagram?) – “Spanning three levels of Customs House, ‘Spaceship Earth: Observing Our Planet From Satellites’ displays extraordinary earth observation (EO) imagery from international space agencies and satellite operators, until 20 July” – Go check it out!

Engagement Shoot – Kirribilli

Here is a photo shoot I did recently with two very dear friends of mine, Adrian and Lorraine.

This is part one of a two part shoot.

You couldn’t ask for a more in love couple!

The Beard Fro Bros

Last night I headed out to the Boundary Hotel in West End to take a couple photos of the Beard Fro Bros. A unique, talented duo that couldn’t be classified under your average “pub” singers. These guys were A.W.E.S.O.M.E. And I mean that in every sense of the word. The BFB entertained the Boundary with a combination of pitch-perfect classic/modern songs that were taken to the next level through mixing, looping and the occasional hilarious replaced word or two. Did I mention they did wicked sound effects too? There is nothing these guys couldn’t cover.

The Ultimate Gold Coast Hens Party

Last weekend I had the most amazing opportunity to photograph a hens party on the Gold Coast. What an experience! It was honestly like something out of an MTV music video.
Let me set the scene for you. Firstly, the weather was nothing shy of perfect – the sun was blazing and the skies were clear as crystal (wicked considering we are still classified as “Spring”). At Marina Mirage a private yacht was waiting for the departure of the hens party. Once all were onboard, the girls opened up a few bottles of champagne and iPhone playlist was set to classic Hip Hop and RnB beats. You know the old favorites I’m talking about. That boat’s speakers probably never knew so much bass!
For the remainder of the cruise up and down the Broadwater, all you could see were young women dancing around in white bikinis and little sailor hats. So much fun :D

Oracle, Broadbeach

Wow, it feels like somewhat of an eternity since I was last on my blog. Truth of the matter is I’ve had a couple of things going on in my personal life…and the posting had to take a bit of a backseat.

Despite not blogging, I never stopped taking photos!

Here are a few I took back on the 8th of July when a friend of mine came up to visit the Gold Coast. She was staying at the Oracle in Broadbeach. What an incredible place, so well built and the views were spectacular.

I was particularly inspired by the shapes I saw from this perspective. The architecture of the Gold Coast was shining in full glory.

- Two Gingery -

The ginger theme continues! I am obsessed with this natural hair color.

Lesson from this shoot – It is SO much more difficult shooting with two people! One smiles, looks perfect. Then the other blinks and the shot doesn’t work. One girl’s hair looks great in one shot and the other has the wind dragged across their face.

I still had a lot of fun with these two sisters though. Quite random being in heels and out on a field, yet we made it work somehow! Unfortunately we were missing the third sister, but I am determined to get all three of them this weekend. This was just practice.
